My goal in April...

I have to confess, I have been a stockpiling queen lately and because of this my freezer/pantry/stockpiling shelves in the basement are overflowing. My goal for April is to spend $100 or less on food, yes you heard that right only $100. This $100 includes any meals that we go out to eat for, so needless to say I think we'll be eating in a lot!

I have to do this every once in a while because I buy tons of food at rock bottom prices and continue to do so faster than I can use my stockpile up. It is only beneficial to stock up on stuff if it is going to get used. I learned this lesson the hard way when I started couponing and got tons of food and then didn't use it fast enough and had expired food. Don't waste your time, energy or money buying things you won't use or donate.

I think setting goals makes life interesting and challenging. I will keep you posted throughout the month on how this whole thing goes.

Do you have any goals for April? They can be financially related or not. If you are brave enough, leave a comment so others can see what you are shooting for!

  1. This is my third month of couponing and I plan on spending only 200 bucks, which is half of what I was spending pre-couponing. Last month I spent 360. Since my pantries and freezers are full, this shouldn't be hard. I've decided if it's a buck or less, I'll go buy it :)

The wonderful part is that I have a bag of food -- snacks, cereal, oatmeal -- to take with us to Florida so that we will only have to buy milk and fresh fruit while there...and I got all those snack items for a buck or less! Thanks Thrifty Mom!

  2. Before couponing - we were spending $700 a month on groceries/wal-mart - but now thanks to all the great sites out there (including yours!) - I was able to make my goal of only $300 in the month of March! I am pretty stocked and need to slow down in order to use up what I have - only buying absolute "need" items. But it's so much fun - sometimes it's hard to stop! ha.ha. So I think I will go with Carmen and try for around $200.00 - only buying milk, bread and fresh fruit.
